Michael Pollard, a native Houstonian, began his love affair with hats as a child, captivated by the parade of elegant hats on ladies in church. After meeting his mentor, milliner Jack McConnell, at a trunk show at the once popular Sakowitz Department Store, he enrolled in a millinery class offered through Houston Community College, where he learned the basic techniques of hat making. So intrigued was he by the art of hat designing, a millinery career was launched.
Michael has outfitted many of Houston’s “ladies who lunch” and “ladies who church”. His collection can be found in various boutiques and specialty shops throughout the Houston area. He prides himself in the personal attention, such as hand blocking, given each hat, combining creativity with the finest materials to produce a truly unique hat design.
Michael is currently a personal consultant and continues to look for new ways to express his creativity through the medium of millinery.
